Anyone who still has time for the
Pirates of the Caribbean franchise after the atrocious
On Stranger Tides (which won my Award for '2011's Biggest Disappointment') will be happy to hear that another instalment is currently being written, slated for release in 2014. Disney Pictures are even considering shooting the fifth
and sixth films back-to-back as they did with
Dead Man's Chest and
At World's End, so we can probably expect some sort of over-arching plot to seep over the final entries in this second trilogy of buckaneering flicks. However, producer Rob Marshall has revealed that currently the film's script is being re-written by Terry Rossio: "Terry is writing it and he's working incredibly hard and he did a draft and rethought it all and started working on it again. You want to make sure you are asking the audience to come back to see an exciting adventure and it has to reach that calibre, otherwise there's no reason to do it." Wise words, but those relating to
OST were fairly reliable too...I'll wait until the actual movie releases in cinemas to give you the definitive verdict on whether the
Pirates series can truly come back for good.
