Let the Second Class puns commence!
A sequel to last year's superhero success X-Men: First Class is definitely in the pipeline, according to a report by Deadline early this week. Unless the (usually reliable) website is wrong, Matthew Vaughn will once again direct the movie, while Simon Kinberg is on board to write its script. The latter rumour worries me a little as Kinberg also penned the atrocious X3: The Last Stand, but hopefully Vaughn's return will signal a strong direction for the sequel, especially with the strong foundations laid by the original. Expect Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy to return, as well as the majority of First Class' mutant and human casts, and don't be surprised if more of the classic team of mutants are introduced to bring the earlier chronology closer to the main trilogy. I'd wager we'll get First Class 2 in late 2014 or 2015, seeing as Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man, Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America 2 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 are taking up the time until that point. Whatever the wait, one thing's for sure: the next few years are going to be very exciting for Marvelites!
