This is where things get interesting.
Where January was debatably a quieter month for the world of entertainment, February looks to be packed with high-octane releases for all kinds of audiences. I've put together a list of the five big entries I reckon you should look out for these next four weeks...
5. CHRONICLE- This one's a bizarre found-footage dark comedy superhero movie starring a cast of relative newcomers onto the box office scene, but I reckon there's a lot of potential for Chronicle to be a genuine sleeper hit. (February 3rd)
4. SYNDICATE- A new video game on the scene? Wow! Forgive my sarcasm- in light of the draught of new releases recently, getting so many this month means I can't help but wonder why they weren't spread out over January too. Thankfully, this sci-fi shooter is looking like a fresh take on the FPS genre. (February 24th)
3. GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE- This one's got a lot of pressure on it as a sequel to a critically-panned Marvel superhero movie. That said, Spirit of Vengeance's trailers have had a lot of things going for them, so I'm holding out hope that Nicholas Cage can restore the faith people have in this brewing franchise. (February 22nd)
2. KINGDOMS OF ALAMUR: RECKONING- A new vid...sorry, just kidding. Reckoning is made by the leaders of the teams who gave us The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind and Oblivion, with many great fantasy writers attached to the project. Don't be surprised if the arcadey combat and huge replay value combine to give us the first essential RPG of 2012. (February 10th)
1. THE MUPPETS- And closing off a packed month for entertainment is a much-delayed comedy movie that has all the potential to be a sensationally nostalgic retread of the good 'ol days, as Jim Henson's puppet characters return with an all-star cast for perhaps the best ensemble piece of the year! (February 10th)
