Games News: Announcements, Delays And More

This week has so far been packed with announcements, confirmations and more news on upcoming video game releases. Now, I'm going to recap the majority of them to keep you posted on this industry's latest developments as best as I can, so without further ado...
  • First up, a biggie: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has been delayed by a whole two months. The single-player and multiplayer components have now been completely finished by the Ubisoft Montreal studio, but not in time for its potential release in March. Ubisoft's online multiplayer beta will begin in April, then you can finally get your hands on Future Soldier this May 25th...
  • Interestingly, we'll be getting a new Facebook game to tie in with the Avengers movie very soon- Marvel: Avengers Alliance will pit the world's greatest heroes against the worst villains from the Marvel universe, and feature a storyline that is alternate to that of the film. We'll be getting more news on this exciting project very soon!
  • Will we really be getting a PS4 announcement this June at E3? Right now, Sony are saying no- Entertainment President Andrew House has said that the company is "[not] contemplating anything to do with future console iterations at this point", which seems to put to rest those rumours from MCV. Still, publishers have denied projects then revealed them at the Expo before...
  • It's been confirmed that Diablo III will NOT be released on February 1st as reported recently by BestBuy, but developer Blizzard Entertainment has revealed that the game WILL be coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 at the same time as the PC version later this year.
  •  There's downloadable multiplayer content aplenty coming to Assassin's Creed: Revelations very soon; the 'Mediterranean Traveller' map pack will include new maps such as Jerusalem, Constantinople and Dyers, plus revamped versions of Brotherhood (2010) classics like Sienna, San Donato and Firenze. Will we get full single-player expansions to the main storyline like we did previously with ACII and Brotherhood? We'll see, but either way, we've only got to wait until November to find out what happens next in Assassin's Creed III!
  • Metal Gear Solid fans got some good news today: the European version of MGS: Snake Eater 3D is out on March 9th (a busy old day for gamers- Mass Effect 3 and Street Fighter X Tekken are on their way too!). And of course, the HD Trilogy will be with us on February 3rd.
  • A couple of Special Editions of some of 2011's best-selling franchise titles have been announced today: expect Homefront: Ultimate Edition and Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition to ship in the very near months to come...
