What with the build-up to The Amazing Spider-Man already developing among fans for its July release, you'd think Sony Colombia would have gone further to promote the upcoming reboot. Perhaps now, with just half a year to go, the distributor wants to make up for its marketing mistake- we've got the first full synopsis for the movie right here:
"One of the world's most popular characters is back on the big screen as a new chapter in the Spider-Man legacy is revealed. Focusing on an untold story that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story, The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of an outcast high schooler (Andrew Garfield) who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field). Peter is finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance- leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero."
I'm still not quite sold on the 'untold story' pitch, nor the theory of Avi Arad that this weaves its way into the original Tobey Maguire trilogy's continuity, but nevertheless this remains one of my most anticipated films of 2012. Director Marc Webb has also revealed that we can expect a new trailer "in the next month" (rumour has it it'll premiere on the web on February 9th), so expect the promotional material for the superhero flick to kick into full gear very soon! The Amazing Spider-Man arrives on the big-screen on July 4th.
