The Marvelites among you I'm sure cannot wait for the new comic-book adaptated movies on their way this year from Marvel Pictures (
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance; The Avengers and
The Amazing Spider-Man), but it turns out the excitement won't need to end anytime soon! Neal McDonough played Dum Dum Dugan in
Captain America: The First Avenger last year, and has been getting quite wordy as to what the studio's future plans are. "They're planning to go into production for
Captain America 2 at the end of the year," he said, "because Marvel does one film at a time. So, they're going to do
Thor 2 and as soon as
Thor has wrapped, they'll do
Cap 2. Hopefully right after that, we'll jump right into
Nick Fury because that's the one I'm looking forward to more than anything." We already knew that sequels to both Thor and Cap's first movies were on their way in the near future, and what with
Iron Man 3 having entered production faster than anticipated, it seems like both new instalments will have no trouble reaching the big screen in 2013 and 2014 respectively, however what is news to most fans is that Samuel L Jackson may, then, if we go by Neal's comments be at the head of a new movie based around Nick Fury, the assembler of the Avengers who has made cameos in each of the prequel films. Jackson apparently has a greater role to play in
Avengers than he has had in his previous adventures, yet it would be interesting to see how the studio handles his origins of his team leadership within their own cinematic universe, and it looks like that may well be happening. I'll keep you posted...for now, we
do know that
Iron Man 3 is due on May 13th, 2013,
Thor 2 in November next year and
Captain America 2 in Summer 2014.
