First Soul Calibur V Reviews Arrive
Next month looks to finally kick off the year in video gaming with a massive bang, featuring a host of exciting returning franchises with a few potential gems among them. One such returnee is Soul Calibur V, the latest entry in Namco's successful side-scrolling fighter series that introduces Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood and Revelations protagonist Ezio Auditore da Firenze into the mix in its new Renaissance era setting. Xbox World 360 have provided the first full review of the final product, giving it a hefty 89%. The magazine says that "Soul Calibur V is easier to get to grips with than its predecessors, and still retains the special charm of the series, the weapons fast and deadly, the battles where one false move is everything." However, World does go on to criticise some of the storyline's lacklustre cut-scenes and narrative developments, so if you're looking for any kind of deep plotline to come tagged along with the lengthy brawler campaign you may well want to look elsewhere. Other than that, though, it seems that Namco have successfully provided the first big game of the year- as PSM3 agree with their 89% score too- throwing down the gauntlet to the rest of the industry to offer us more exciting surprises in months to come...Soul Calibur V hits stores on February 3rd.
