Warner Bros. Pictures have today released (via USA Today) a new promotional image (left) for their upcoming superhero blockbuster Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Set months after the events of 2013's Man of Steel, the follow-up stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent and his oh-so-super alter-ego, Ben Affleck as Batman, Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Jason Momoa as Aquaman (in other words, it's a straight Justice League of America in every aspect, including its name).
As everyone except Matt Murdock can plainly see, the official picture depicts Cavill as Superman standing atop what looks to be a building in Batman's home city of Gotham (as one commenter mentioned to Den of Geek on Twitter earlier today, it's hardly as if there's many buildings left for Supes to scale in Metropolis these days!) in the midst of a fierce rain-storm.
That's not all, however - not by a long shot. On top of the pic in question, director Zack Snyder also revealed several new details on Dawn of Justice in his exclusive interview with USA Today on the set in Detroit. Here's a round-up of the snippets that the 300 helmer was willing to reveal about his latest pet project:
- ON THE DARK KNIGHT'S PRESENCE- "I was in no rush to put Batman in the movie, but on the other hand it seemed organic the way our story was unfolding to start to feather him in. [...] It's cooler to see a crusty old Batman beating the snot out of guys."
- ON THE FILM'S TITLE- "Suffice it to say there is a 'v' in between their names [but not a 'vs.' so as] to keep it from being a straight 'versus' movie, even in the most subtle way."
- ON THE COMPETITION- "You can talk all you want about other superhero movies, but it's Batman and Superman, let's be honest. I don't know how you get bigger than that."
- USA TODAY ON DAWN OF JUSTICE'S PREMISE- "Dawn of Justice continues to immerse [Superman] on Earth by working at the Daily Planet as Clark Kent along with Lois Lane (Amy Adams) and Perry White (Laurence Fishburne). But it also takes him to new environments such as Gotham City and introduces larger threats, including Lex Luthor (Jessie Eisenberg)."
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice collides with UK cinemas nationwide on April 29th, 2016 and other cinemas worldwide on May 6th, 2016.
