Disney Interactive Entertainment and Avalanche Studios have this week announced a new playable character set to feature in their upcoming third-person platforming collect-em-up video game Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition. Confirmed to launch with a Marvel Superheroes play set later this year, 2.0 Edition will feature a host of new characters which can be controlled in-game by placing an action figure replica of the construct on the product's physical Portal (a recurring element of the overall franchise).
Next up on the character roster? Why, it's none other than Stitch, or so the marketing team's latest tweet implies. This swiftly-tamed blue extraterrestrial creature first débuted in the 2002 animated motion picture Lilo & Stitch (one of our favourite Disney animations to date, if you must know!) before reprising his role as the world's most lovable alien in a subsequent Disney Channel TV show (Lilo & Stitch: The Series) and a handful of direct-to-video sequels. Unless a Lilo & Stitch-themed Play Set is announced for 2.0 Edition at a later date, it's probable that Stitch's contribution to the much-vaunted follow-up will be limited to its free-roaming creative Toy Box sections, but even so, we're hardly going to complain about his inclusion.
The Marvel Superheroes (Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition) Starter Pack Play Set will come to life on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo WiiU, PC and iOS this September 23rd, with a 2015 release currently planned for the PlayStation Vita version.
