Walt Disney Pictures have today released the theatrical trailer for their upcoming animated superhero film Big Hero 6. Starring T.J. Miller and Jamie Chung, Walt Disney Animation Studios' latest blockbuster will boast a narrative which is loosely based on the Marvel comic-strip of the same name yet doesn't carry the continuity baggage of the long-established Marvel Cinematic Universe, instead acting as a wholly independent entity in its own right.
In all of the ruckus surrounding Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past and Guardians of the Galaxy this year, that Big Hero 6's marketing team have managed to make their voices heard is a truly admirable feat in itself. What's more, this second video preview is filled with pitch-perfect gags, noteworthy animated visual effects that are undoubtedly on a par with Frozen and a gloriously whimsical soundtrack which seems to perfectly suit its jovial and humorous tone (another aspect of the motion picture that places it in stark contrast to its MCU predecessors and impending successors). Stay tuned to On-Screen in the weeks ahead for more details surrounding this increasingly potent superhero comedy's production, marketing campaign and Avenger-free narrative!
Big Hero 6 will report fantastical crimes to the cops in US cinemas this November 7th and will subsequently launch in UK cinemas nationwide on January 30th, 2015.
