Warner Bros. Pictures have just released an "Official Sneak Peek" video containing clips from the impending teaser trailer for their fantasy motion picture The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Set for release later this year, the much-vaunted sequel to The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug resolves its predecessor's cliffhanger of Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch) preparing to lay siege to Laketown as an imprisoned Baird the Bowman (Luke Evans) finds himself seemingly powerless to slay his winged foe.
Although trailers-for-teaser-trailers such as this are becoming more and more common these days, we'll reserve most of our thoughts on Battle's potential for the full trailer reveal tomorrow afternoon. What we will say, however, is that the situation for Bilbo, Baird, Gandalf and other characters we've come to know and...like over the course of the first two Hobbit films could not appear much more ominous (unless the character in question's name is Azog, who looks more than ready to command an army of Orcs in the hope of overthrowing Middle-Earth's general population), and given that Battle is still just under five months away from release, anyone hoping for the overall teaser trailer to differ when it comes to the largely foreboding tone exhibited here should probably get ready to be severely disappointed...
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies lets loose the hounds of war on December 12th, 2014, whereas the teaser trailer for the film will go online far sooner - tomorrow (July 28th), in fact.
