Microsoft Game Studios and 343 Industries have today released a new CGI trailer for their upcoming first-person-shooter video game compilation Halo: The Master Chief Collection. First announced at the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo last month, the package will include high-res versions of Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4 as well as the first episode of the Ridley Scott-produced TV series Halo: Nightfall and an access code for the impending Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta.
In this instance, it's Halo 2 that goes under the radar, as the Arbiter (a secondary protagonist introduced in the aforementioned sequel) relays details to the mysterious Agent Locke (a Spartan-III who we presume is on the hunt for the Chief in Guardians, not least since he takes up half of the game's cover art) regarding the unique friendship that he and John-117 struck up over the course of the final two instalments of the original trilogy. Cinematics such as the one depicted below will be unlocked, in a similar vein to Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, by the discovery of hidden terminals within each level of the reworked Halo 2's campaign (no word yet on whether the same can be said of Halo 3 and Halo 4, but we'll keep you posted) and will serve as fascinating prologue snippets intended to foreshadow events to come in Guardians.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection reignites hidden conflicts and launches a new era for its franchise exclusively on Xbox One this November 14th.
