Lionsgate have today released the teaser trailer for their upcoming fantasy blockbuster The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1. Acting as a sequel to both 2011's The Hunger Games and 2013's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, this dystopian pseudo-epic once again stars Oscar-victor Jennifer Lawrence as the young and increasingly courageous Katniss Everdeen, yet also introduces newcomers such as Game of Thrones veteran Natalie Dormer and The Kids Are All Right's Julianne Moore into the delectable mixture.
After the calamitous events of Catching Fire, it's little wonder that the fictitious nation of Panem has descended into chaos by the time Part 1's climactic (well, sort of - there's still Part 2 to come, of course!) narrative kicks off, forcing Katniss to step up her role as the leader of an increasingly enraged Rebellion army which is hell-bent on punishing each and every resident of the Capitol in the most gratuitous manner possible. Quite how they'll begin to make their move remains to be seen in upcoming theatrical trailers and the final product itself, but if nothing else, this brief-yet-compelling teaser demonstrates just how many fearful civilians have already joined the cause and will fight by the Mockingjay's side when the inevitable final confrontation arrives. One question remains, however: will Katniss maintain the conviction and acceptance of necessary sacrifice that will be required of her in days to come? Finding out the answer on the big-screen this Winter is sure to be nothing short of a pleasure.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 sews the seeds of an unparalleled uprising this November 21st.
