Marvel Comics have this week confirmed the publication of Star Wars: The Original Marvel Years for release in all good book retailers early next year. A comprehensive Omnibus collection, the extended graphic novel will bring together each and every one of the comic-books which Marvel published in collaboration with 20th Century Fox and Lucasfilm in the 1970s alongside the release of Star Wars (1977), with more collections of this ilk expected to follow as Episode VII's worldwide release in cinemas nears ever closer.
To its credit, The Original Marvel Years will represent a notably hefty tone thanks to including over forty individual comic-books and the original Star Wars Annual (#1). "It's the return of the Jedi to Marvel," StarWars.com asserted in their official press release, "In an opening volume that begins with Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and ends with Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back." For those of us who weren't around to experience the comic-strip in its initial published form from '77 onwards, this particular publication should come as a welcome surprise, especially since the product may well contain content which inspires future Star Wars graphic novels set to be published by Marvel Comics in 2015 and beyond. Check out the beautifully stylistic and 'retro' cover art for the book below, plus stay tuned to On-Screen for all the latest details on Star Wars Episode VI, The Original Marvel Years and more associated licensed releases in the months ahead!
Star Wars: The Original Marvel Years will be printed in a UK (or US) book retailer near you in January 2015.
