Studio Canal have today released the teaser trailer for their upcoming historical drama film The Imitation Game. Based on Andrew Hodges' acclaimed biography Alan Turing: The Enigma, Imitation is directed by Morten Tyldum, whose début on the cinematic scene came in 2011 with the accomplished Norwegian thriller Headhunters (starring Game of Thrones' Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, so you just know it had to be a good'un!).
Try as he might, though, there's not a chance in hell that Tyldum could eclipse his mighty cast ensemble as the film's central head-liner. From Benedict Cumberbatch (whose admirable acting credits stretch so darned far these days that he really warrants no introduction) to Keira Knightley (ditto), from Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes; Kingsman: The Secret Service) to Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), for us, there's not a single weak contributor in sight. Thankfully, we're probably looking at more of a The Lord of the Rings than a Movie 43, since in the midst of the year that marks the centenary of the 'Great' War, Tyldum and his talented team of stars are hardly going to pass up the opportunity to pay tribute to those figures who valiantly resolved the global conflict which succeeded it, even if it necessitates a sobering depiction of their flawed protagonist (Alan Turing)'s ultimate failure to earn himself a happy ending.
The Imitation Game begins cracking codes in UK cinemas nationwide this November 14th.
