The organizers and marketing team of this year's San Diego Comic-Con convention have today announced the presence of a panel featuring key BioWare executives discussing the next instalment in the critically beloved Mass Effect franchise of science-fiction role-playing video games. Two years ago, the series brought its Original Trilogy to a turbulent conclusion, both from a critical and narrative perspective, the former medium coming into play thanks to a wealth of controversy surrounding Mass Effect 3's shockingly one-dimensional multi-endings.
Thankfully, neither publishers EA nor developers BioWare have allowed the negative press of 2012 to get them down, instead setting the latter's intrepid teams to work on a follow-up (albeit one which'll boast a storyline which is apparently entirely devoid of ex-protagonist Shepherd), and after years of silence, both companies took to the stage at Electronic Arts' E3 2014 press conference to reveal a thrilling preview video which teased the upcoming title's settings and characters. At the aforementioned Comic-Con panel, "Charting a Course: Developing the Next Mass Effect", producers Fabrice Condominas and Mike Gamble, lead animator Carl Boulay, senior artist Noel Lukasewich and community manager Jessica Merizan will all be on hand to set the record straight regarding the franchise's past successes and failures as well as how those events have begun to shape development on the much-anticipated fourth outing. Stay tuned to On-Screen in the days ahead for all of the crucial details you need to hear on what's next for Mass Effect!
"Charting a Course: Developing the Next Mass Effect" will be held in Room 25ABC at the San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 26th.
