BBC Worldwide have today announced via Doctor Who Magazine the development of a new limited edition Doctor Who DVD and Blu-Ray box-set set to release this Autumn. Titled Doctor Who: 50th Anniversary Collector's Edition, the compilation will bring together many of the acclaimed programmes which were broadcast in the midst of the hit science-fiction drama's 50th Anniversary celebrations last November.
It's about time too, as so far this year, there's been no sign of a retail release for the exemplary other 50th Special "The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot", the nostalgic documentary 'Doctor Who: The Ultimate Guide' or 'Doctor Who Live: The Afterparty' (just kidding, of course - the Beeb know well enough to keep that one away from fans' still-recovering eyes for a long time and so haven't included it here). Here's a full list of each and every episode, mini-episode, script readthrough, BBC Proms broadcast and documentary which will comprise the package's extensive offerings:
- "The Name of the Doctor" (45 minutes)
- "The Night of the Doctor" (8 minutes)
- "The Day of the Doctor" (76 minutes)
- "The Time of the Doctor" (60 minutes)
- 'An Adventure in Space & Time' (90 minutes)
- "The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot" (30 minutes)
- 'Doctor Who: The Ultimate Guide' (120 minutes)
- 'The Science of Doctor Who' (60 minutes)
- 'Doctor Who Proms 2013' (60 minutes)
- "The Last Day" (4 minutes)
- "The Day of the Doctor Exclusive Readthrough" (Running time TBC)
- "The Day of the Doctor Cinema Intros" (4 minutes approx)
- Behind-The-Scenes Docs For "The Name of the Doctor", "The Day of the Doctor" and "The Time of the Doctor" (10 minutes approx each)
- 'Tales from the TARDIS' (BBC America documentary, 60 minutes)
- 'Farewell to Matt Smith' (BBC America documentary, 60 minutes)
Only 6,000 Blu-Rays and 4,000 DVDs of Doctor Who: 50th Anniversary Collector's Edition will be released on September 8th, so fans hoping to pick up a copy would be best advised to pre-order it at BBC Shop.
