20th Century Fox have today announced the US première date for their much-anticipated detective drama Gotham. Adapted loosely from Batman comic-book lore, the programme's first season will open with the ongoing investigation by Detective James Gordon and the Gotham City Police Department into the fateful demises of Thomas and Martha Wayne.
Unlike Arrow, The Flash and Constantine, Fox's latest foray into the land of DC superheroes will launch in the first month of the Autumn US TV season, giving it quite the head-start on its numerous competitors. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season Two's initial airdate is still to be revealed, of course, but unless the show brings a serious fan-lure in its opening instalment, there's little chance that it'll steal all of Gotham's thunder. Stay tuned to On-Screen as we build towards ComicCon and further Gotham reveals later this month - it's a great time to be a superhero fan!
Gotham will début on Fox this September 22nd. A UK broadcaster has yet to be announced.
