Walt Disney Pictures have today announced the identity of a new voice artist currently attached to their upcoming animated science-fiction TV series Star Wars: Rebels. Taking place in the 30-year gap between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope (but hopefully resembling the latter more closely when it comes to pure quality, of course), the show's narrative will centre on the origins of the Rebel Alliance and their ongoing forces with Imperial forces, not to mention the deadly Inquisitor.
In what has to be the production team's biggest and most successful casting coup to date, Jason Isaacs has signed on to portray the Inquisitor in Rebels' impending first season. Despite having made numerous appearances in acclaimed TV and film projects such as Peter Pan and Case Histories, we'd wager that Isaacs has never quite escaped the shadow of Lucius Malfoy, the villainous father of Draco in the Harry Potter films who virtually every fan on the Earth loved to hate. Sadly, taking on the role of the spin-off series' central antagonist is hardly going to place Isaacs in fandom's good books, either, though we're sure their respect for the sheer depth frequently demonstrated in his performances won't be lessened by the morally eschewed nature of his latest character - if anything, this could be yet another big break for the Potter star...
Star Wars: Rebels will debut with a one-hour Special on Disney XD this Autumn leading into its first full season, and a full trailer for the aforementioned productions is expected to be revealed at the show's 2014 San Diego Comic-Con panel on Thursday, July 24th.
