Warner Brothers Pictures have this week released a theatrical trailer for their upcoming fantasy-historical film 300: Rise Of An Empire. The sequel to Zack Snyder's 2007 epic 300, this second instalment is produced by Snyder and directed by Noam Murro.
Of course, you may recall that the previous blockbuster's narrative climaxed in such a manner that seemed ominously definitive, with the titular 300 Spartans bested by their near-invulnerable adversary Xerxes. It turns out that the story doesn't end there, though, as the Persian Empire grows in power and moves ever closer to a battle which will change everything, as shown in the trailer itself (below). I personally found 300 something of a chore, so this writer would be lying if he claimed to have mass excitement for the follow-up, but the appetite's clearly substantial enough to warrant the sequel and with any luck that'll fuel box office success next Spring.
300: Rise Of An Empire sieges cinemas worldwide on March 7th, 2014.
