Manny, Sid and of course Scrat will all return for a fifth big-screen adventure!
20th Century Fox, Fox Animation Studios and Blue Sky Studios have today announced the production of Ice Age 5 for release in the near future. Following in the wake of 2002's Ice Age, 2006's Ice Age: The Meltdown, 2009's Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and 2012's Ice Age: Continental Drift, this fifth instalment in the animated franchise will narrowly avoid the hazardous period of 2015 in an attempt to earn its box office success.
How's 2016 looking right now, then? At present, the year's line-up is slowly beginning to take shape, with a fair few specific blockbusters confirmed for release- two more Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Three chapters, X-Men: Apocalypse, The Amazing Spider-Man 3, How To Train Your Dragon 3, Finding Dory, Alice In Wonderland 2, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Angry Birds, the first Star Wars spin-off flick from Disney and Avatar 2. By releasing within the year's Summer of Film, Ice Age 5 will at least not have to contend with the latter two Christmas behemoths, although the series' appeal will be seriously tested for the potential to wane now that we're coming towards having received two entire trilogies in its limited narrative universe...
Ice Age 5 scrambles into cinemas worldwide on July 15th, 2016.
