A third superhero enters DC's ensemble blockbuster- or should we say superheroine?
Warner Brothers' and DC Studios have today announced a new guest star set to feature in their upcoming superhero ensemble film Batman Vs. Superman. Picking up in the aftermath of Man of Steel, the 2015 follow-up will star Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight.
Until now, most fans would have concurred that two warring superheroes are more than enough for a franchise which has barely left the ground. That's changed, however, as we now know that Gal Gadot will play another member of DC's iconic Justice League of America, Wonder Woman, in the motion picture project. Galdot is an up-and-coming star best known for her work in the Fast & Furious blockbuster franchise as Gisele Harabo, but of course this will be an entirely different level of role for the actress, particularly in terms of the expectations and preconceptions of the character's comic-book incarnation.
Here's what director Zack Snyder had to say on the matter of Gal's casting as the first big-screen incarnation of Wonder Woman: "Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favourite in the DC universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress. but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character."
Batman Vs. Superman collides into cinemas worldwide on July 17th, 2015.
