A Game of Thrones star joins the cast of the 2015 franchise reboot...
Paramount Pictures have today announced the addition of a new lead star to the cast of their upcoming science-fiction film Terminator: Genesis. Intended as a reboot of the classic 1980s blockbuster franchise, Genesis' only known cast member up until this point was returning star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who makes his fifth consecutive appearance in the series' latest instalment.
Emilia Clarke is next up on the list, though, coming on board the project to play a younger version of the character of Sarah Connor. Originally played by Linda Hamilton in The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Connor was then later portrayed by Game of Thrones' very own Cersei, Lena Headey. The wheel has come full circle, then, as the HBO drama's Danaerys jumps ships to join Schwarzenegger in commandeering a reworked mythology for his flagship franchise. With any luck, Clarke's screen time will be limited enough such that we're not deprived of future adventures for the last Targyerean in Thrones' fourth and fifth seasons, but it'll be great to see her flourish in unexplored avenues nevertheless!
Terminator: Genesis blasts into cinemas worldwide on July 1st, 2015.
