Days of Future Past is just the beginning of a new saga of X-Men film adventures.
20th Century Fox have today announced the production of a new instalment in the X-Men film franchise. Currently under the working title of X-Men: Apocalypse, the latest superhero outing will follow the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past next year.
The news comes from Days of Future Past's director Bryan Singer, who tweeted the following earlier tonight: "#XMen #Apocalypse 2016!". The working title refers to Apocalypse, known to be one of the titular team of heroes' deadliest nemeses. Box Office Mojo then reported a near-official release date for the project, which you can see below. Presumably, Singer is taking the director's chair once again, and depending on how next year's crossover outing fares, perhaps more interweaving of the two strands of franchise continuity could be in the offing!
X-Men: Apocalypse crashes into cinemas worldwide on May 27th, 2016.
