Experience the Doctor's final battle on DVD and Blu-Ray with a huge set of exclusive bonus features.
BBC Worldwide have today announced the release of the 2013 Christmas Special of Doctor Who on DVD and Blu-Ray next year. Titled The Time of the Doctor, the episode chronicles the eponymous Time Lord (Matt Smith)'s voyage with Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) to Trenzalore to fight with the Papal Mainframe and the Silence in his final battle against the Daleks, the Cybermen and the Weeping Angels, as well as his death and regeneration into a new incarnation played by Peter Capaldi.
In the UK, this feature-length adventure will be bundled with all of Matt Smith's Doctor Who Christmas Specials in a boxset titled The Time of the Doctor & Other Eleventh Doctor Christmas Specials. On top of Matt's final escapade, then, fans will own A Christmas Carol, The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe and The Snowmen in one all-encompassing, budget-price bundle. Three bonus featurettes will be a part of the package, including Behind The Lens (a 10 minute non-broadcast equivalent to Doctor Who Confidential), Tales from the TARDIS (a 45 minute retrospective on Doctor Who since its return in 2005) and Farewell to Matt Smith (a 45 minute BBC America retrospective on the Matt Smith years of Who).
Doctor Who: The Time of the Doctor & Other Eleventh Doctor Christmas Specials retails on DVD for £15 and on Blu-Ray for £20 this January 20th, 2014.
