One X-Man (or rather X-Woman) won't be returning to the franchise after all...
20th Century Fox and director Bryan Singer have today confirmed an update to the ensemble cast of their upcoming superhero film X-Men: Days of Future Past. The sequel to X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class sees the two strands of the series' continuity converge as a tyrannical mutant-hunter builds an army of Sentinels in the 1980s that threatens to change the future as Wolverine, Professor X and Magneto know it.
Although dozens of past cast members from the X-Men movies will be back for this latest instalment, Anna Paquin is no longer among them. Paquin played Rogue in the original trilogy of blockbusters, and filmed a cameo appearance in a sequence for Days of Future Past earlier this year, but during the editing process, Singer had to cut the scene due to it appearing extraneous within the context of the presumably fast-paced overall narrative. Nevertheless, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Patrick Stewart, Michael Fassbender, Halle Berry, Shaun Ashmore, Ellen Page, Nicholas Hoult and newcomer Peter Dinklage all still remain attached to the production, and it promises to be one of 2014's greatest films already!
X-Men: Days of Future Past time-travels into cinemas worldwide on May 23rd, 2014.
