Ubisoft Montreal have this week announced a new global release date for their impending historical action-adventure video game sequel Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Set for release on two generations of consoles, this sixth adventure in the century-spanning war between Assassins and Templars casts the player as Edward Kenway while Abstergo search Desmond's memories for a vital secret.
Now that Watch Dogs is set for a release in early 2014, some kind of compensation from the development studio was certainly required, and the new worldwide release date for Black Flag is at least a slight consolation. Next year, the studio won't be lacking in major releases, with Watch Dogs, The Crew and Tom Clancy's The Division all launching before 2014's end, yet Black Flag is Ubisoft Montreal's final chance to hit it big in 2013 after underwhelming sales for their other franchises.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will launch worldwide on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo WiiU on October 29th, with a release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC set for November 22nd.
