The Dark Knight's fallen idol stars in a breathtaking modern reinterpretation of Mary Shelly's classic novel...Lionsgate Studios have today released the first teaser trailer (below) for their upcoming fantasy film I, Frankenstein. Loosely based on and succeeding the events of Mary Shelley's acclaimed text Frankenstein, this new motion picture takes place hundreds of years after the events of the original novel, with Dr Frankenstein's iconic creature now caught in a globe-spanning battle for the fate of humanity and the planet Earth.
Of course, having The Dark Knight's Aaron Eckhart on board as the titular protagonist can only help this audacious project's chances. Eckhart's recent film appearances include Battle: Los Angeles and Olympus Has Fallen, but it seems as if this may be the first title in some time which truly offers him the opportunity to flex his talent-fuelled muscles for audiences worldwide to see. Bill Nighy is the movie's other big star, yet other than that Lionsgate will need to rely on the prowess of their writers to create an innovative screenplay rather than any star-studded cast line-up.
I, Frankenstein rips into cinemas worldwide on January 24th, 2014.
