Sony Pictures and director Marc Webb have today announced the release date of the first theatrical trailer for their upcoming superhero film The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Launching in 2014's Summer of Film, the much-anticipated sequel to Sony's 2012 Spider-Man reboot will pick up one year after the events of its predecessor, as Gwen Stacey mourns the death of her father and Peter Parker must decide his true alliegances when supervillains Rhino and Electro emerge onto the streets of New York to wreak chaos.
Fans will find the teaser trailer running ahead of screenings of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug on December 13th. This is a sound move from Sony in terms of promoting their next major motion picture to a sizeable worldwide audience, with Desolation already set to sell by the bucketload if the anticipation for the second instalment in Peter Jackson's prequel trilogy is anything to go by. We can expect Electro to feature extensively, although shots of Harry Osborn, Rhino and the rumoured 'The Death of Gwen Stacey' storyline adaptation aren't out of the question either...
