New Young Bond Novels Announced

As if a new Bond film in two years' time weren't fulfilling enough, there'll be more adventures with Agent 007 for teen readers in 2014...
Puffin Books have today announced the release of a second series of Young Bond novels in the near future. Originally scribed by The Fast Show writer Charlie Higson, the franchise of teen thriller escapades chronicled James Bond's time at Eton College and the first 'missions' which brought him onto the radar of MI6 during his early years.

In an immediate deviation from the status quo, though, Puffin have elected to commission a different author for the next series of Young Bond instalments. It's probable that Higson wasn't available to pen these tales, or perhaps that he wished to pass on the proverbial gauntlet to a different helm. Either way, in place of him we have Steve Cole, an English author best known for his Astrosaurs children's fiction series, but additionally renowned for his work within the Doctor Who literary universe both pre- and post-2005. Cole is hardly the most obvious choice for such a bold continuation of a beloved teen series and yet given the relative sense of predictable tedium that had arisen by the time of By Royal Command, he's arguably just the fresh pair of hands the saga needs for its return.

Young Bond 6 will land in retailers worldwide in Autumn 2014, with more depictions of an angst-ridden teen Bond (just kidding)'s adventures due for release in 2015 and beyond.
