The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair Announced

More travels through the Wardrobe await- the first details on the return of a promising fantasy franchise.
The C.S. Lewis Company and The Mark Gordon Company have today announced the production of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair for release in the near future. A film adaptation of C.S. Lewis' classic 1953 novel, the motion picture production will mark the fourth instalment in the franchise after 2005's The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, 2008's Prince Caspian and 2010's Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

The central protagonist in this case is Eustace Scrubb, a character first introduced in Voyage who takes on the mantle of the hero of Narnia after the Pensieves grow up. Nevertheless, that doesn't necessarily mean we should expect a full-scale departure from the cast of the film's predecessors, with appearances from at least Lucy and Edmond virtually inevitable given the recognition that fans have with those ex-protagonist constructs. Silver Chair simultaneously re-introduces Aslan into the mix, though it's unlikely his Christ-like tendencies will be emphasised quite as heavily here as in the original texts.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair roars into cinemas worldwide in 2016.
