Warner Brothers Montreal have today unveiled a host of new narrative details and a new gameplay video (below) of their upcoming superhero title Batman: Arkham Origins. The third title in the Arkham saga features the Caped Crusader battling the Joker, the Penguin, Black Mask, Killer Croc and eight ruthless assassins out for his life.
First up, then, here's our round-up of all the latest news and details on the project itself:
- Today's big reveal was that Barbara Gordon will feature in the narrative of Origins. Before her days as Batgirl and Oracle, Barbara stood by her father Captain James Gordon, yet slowly found herself attracted to the adventures of Batman, with a relationship still to be unpicked here.
- Once the main campaign and New Game + modes have been completed (both are estimated to take approximately 12 hours each), there's an I Am The Night mode which gives the player just one life in which to complete the entire narrative- tricky!
- The latest addition to the Caped Crusader's array of gadgets? The Concussion Detonator, a grenade device that allows him to immobilise enemies without causing them serious injury.
- You'll be able to visit the Batcave at will, honing combat skills through Training and Challenge Map modes as well as changing costume to classic and bizarre variations of the Batsuit.
- Within the Batcave, a prototype version of the Batmobile can be seen...but don't expect to drive it.
- Last up, it seems that Lady Shiva will be the sixth assassin in the narrative, joining Deathstroke, Deadshot, Bane, Copperhead and Firefly...
Batman: Arkham Origins glides onto Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo WiiU and PC on October 25th.
