Warner Brothers Pictures have today released the latest theatrical trailer for their upcoming fantasy film sequel The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Based on the events of Chapters 6-16 (certainly a more sizable deal of content to adapt there than its predecessor), the second instalment in Peter Jackson's trilogy of The Lord of the Rings prequel begins as the Company finds themselves captured by an Elven battalion, with just one hope of escape.
Thankfully, after months of difficult waiting, fans can now witness plenty of new footage (below) for the much-anticipated motion picture. Sequences featuring Legolas, Beorn, the Necromancer, devilish Spiders, the Grey Orc and Smaug himself are teased, although quite whether the movie will move as far as the latter creature's demise in the text is beyond our knowledge at this stage. At any rate, promise lies in abundance here, with Desolation seeming set to stun in two months' time!
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug breaks into cinemas worldwide on December 13th.
