Doctor Who Series Seven Part 2 Première Date Confirmed

Matt Smith & Jenna-Louise Coleman on LocationThe Doctor returns to BBC1 this Easter...
Fresh off the broadcast of the hit Christmas special The Snowmen, the BBC have today confirmed the airdate on which Doctor Who's seventh season will begin to race towards its epic conclusion. Titled 'Series Seven Part 2', the anniversary run will consist of eight blockbuster adventures featuring Matt Smith as the Doctor and Jenna-Louise Coleman as Clara Oswin Oswald.

The new series features two scripts from showrunner Steven Moffat (the season premiere and finale), Mark Gatiss (Episodes 3 and 6) and Neil Cross (Episodes 2 and 4), with special standalone scripts to come from both Stephen Thompson (Episode 5) and Neil Gaiman (Episode 7) as well. We've already had it confirmed that old friends such as Strax, Vastra and Jenny will return in multiple episodes, and we can expect Cybermen, phantoms, a living Wi-Fi and a journey to the centre of the TARDIS to make up just a handful of the challenges that await the Time Lord in his fiftieth year on air.

Beyond this run? There'll be a 60-minute 50th Anniversary Special in November on BBC1 to celebrate the big day, Mark Gatiss' 90-minute docudrama An Adventure In Time And Space in that month too, and a new 60-minute Christmas Special probably coming in December on top of all that. We've also got the ongoing eBook series featuring famed children's authors, a celebratory DWM six-part comic strip Hunters Of The Burning Stone, a multi-Doctor classic Big Finish audio drama The Light At The End and plenty of unannounced events and releases to mark the anniversary year, so it's definitely going to be one of the best times ever to be a fan of this legendary science-fiction drama!

Doctor Who returns to BBC1 on Saturday March 30th (Easter Saturday).
