We hope you had a great New Year's Eve last night of both relaxing and rejoicing, as the year of 2012 reached its almighty crescendo and a brand new year of 2013 began at midnight precisely. Well, now we're here, and On-Screen is back for another 365 days of intense entertainment across the world and across all of the realms of time and space. So, just what can you expect from us this year? Here's a quick round-up preview...
- DOCTOR WHO: COUNTDOWN TO 50- Well, it's a countdown to fourty-seven, really- there are now 47 seven-day weeks left to go until the day of Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary arrives. November 23rd seems like an age away, and yet we're sure the time will fly as we witness Series Seven Part Two in the Spring and the big build-up to the big special feature-length episode over the course of the Summer and Autumn. No doubt there'll be a Christmas Special too, and with the docudrama An Adventure In Time And Space to come too, this year will be the year of Who for sure. To celebrate, On-Screen will be running two weekly series of features, one examining an episode from each of the Eleven Doctors as the year progresses, and the other a 'Best Of Who Awards' looking back throughout the show's half-centenary history at the best companions, Doctors, guest stars and overall episodes. So, join us as we travel everywhere and anywhere...
- THE AVENGERS PHASE TWO BEGINS- Last year's Avengers Assemble was every bit the smash hit Marvel Studios could have intended, so it's no surprise that the studio are now moving onto bigger projects still. Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World kick off the second phase of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, and you can expect some major developments towards the next Avengers flick in those fantastic films alone! We'll have reviews of those and all of this year's other big superhero films right here at the blog.
- SHERLOCK RETURNS- As if it wasn't enough to helm one of the biggest TV anniversaries of all time, Steven Moffat will also be bringing us a whole new season of Sherlock later in the year. As 2013 progresses, we'll run through all the theories on how Mr Holmes survived his fall before the season premiere, and then bring you reviews and analysis of all three feature-length episodes straight after their respective broadcasts.
- HAVE A GREAT 2013- Above all, make sure that you yourself have a brilliant year, not just in terms of enjoying the plentiful entertainment that the various industries we cover here have to offer, but in terms of life in general. We'll be here all twelve months to keep you up-to-date, so have an absolutely fantastic 2013!
And long may the good times continue...
