The X-Men are back in 2014...but when will their new outing be set?
A casting call released today for 20th Century Fox's new superhero film project X-Men: Days Of Future Past has seemingly revealed the time setting for the latest instalment in the hit franchise. The advertisement has listed the year 1973 as the setting for the movie, meaning that it takes place ten years after the events of 2011's X-Men: First Class and twenty seven years before the events of 2000's original X-Men.
Presumably, this means that the Brotherhood of Mutants we saw begin to form in First Class' final moments will be back in full force one decade on, albeit with January Jones' Emma Frost allegedly not making a return. More importantly, of course, will be the discovery of just when the future segment of Days Of Future Past takes place, as there's distortion of the surviving characters from 2005's The Last Stand with the inclusions of Patrick Stewart as Professor X and the omission of Cyclops from the list of returning past characters. All the same, with Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Ellen Page, Shaun Ashmore, Anna Paquin and Nicholas Hoult all confirmed to be on board for starters, this is going to be one heck of an exhilarating production!
X-Men: Days Of Future Past is set for release on July 18th, 2014.
