Temple Run 2 Review

Does the sequel to the best-selling iOS and Android time-waster provide the goods?
Reviewing free apps available on the iOS, Android and Google Play marketplaces is always a tricky ask. If anything, you're just as free not to 'buy' these entertainment releases as you are to do so, and thus in some ways that means it's all really up to you. All the same, given the success of Temple Run for its developers last Winter, it's still intriguing to track the progress on the sequel, and so I at least thought I'd provide a quick verdict.

On the whole, the changes in Temple Run 2 are rather cosmetic. You'll still swipe left and right to quickly veer your cave runner in various directions to keep him moving, plus swipe up and down to jump and duck respectively just as George Lucas' Indiana Jones once did. Nevertheless, the cosmetic graphical tweaks are certainly neat, especially once you reach a mine cart section that suitably shakes things up for the franchise. The major shortcoming of this free app? The lack of innovation and thus ambition on offer, with little more than addiction and a few extra characters with no bonus abilities to unlock.

Overall, then, as I mentioned the choice with deciding on app games such as this lies solely with the preferences of you, the player. If you liked Temple Run, then know that Temple Run 2 is completely more of the same, yet that does mean you'll be just addicted playing this fun adventure as you ever were!
4/5
