The author of Artemis Fowl signs on for the ambitious 50th series!
Last week, BBC Worldwide and Puffin Books made the exciting announcement that a series of eleven Doctor Who eBook short stories penned by famous children's authors were on their way to Kindles to celebrate the 50th Anniversary. Today, the publishers of this ambitious new saga of tales have unveiled the name of the first author in the new series: Eoin Colfer.
Colfer is most famous for his work on the Artemis Fowl teen fiction fantasy series, an attribute of his bibliography that will no doubt bring back fond memories of childhood for readers such as myself, but more recently he also penned An Another Thing, a continuation of the late Douglas Adams' acclaimed science-fiction franchise The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. The author's work with the latter franchise should place him in great stead for this first Who eBook, titled A Big Hand For The Doctor and featuring the First Doctor as played by William Hartnell from 1963 to 1966. We'll have a full review of this ambitious eBook on the day of release, and expect to hear more on further big authors continuing the saga of adventures in the months ahead. Doctor Who: A Big Hand For The Doctor is published for download on January 23rd.
