The new script's writer lets us know the status of the next Sherlock Holmes film...
It's been over a year now since Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows, and so far we've been no closer to finding out whether the ambitious reinterpretation of Arthur Conan Doyle's iconic detective featuring Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law will get a third instalment. That may all be about to change, though: speaking to Collider, Game Of Shadows producer Dan Lin has begun to allude to a new outing for the Baker Street hero in the near future. He gives us the following sentiments on the project: "Drew Pearce is working on the script. It's a high priority for the studio and for all the filmmakers involved. We want to make the right movie- we got a great response to the second movie, and frankly the Moriarty character sets such a high bar that we want to make sure we're telling the right story for the third." Indeed, that post-Moriarty dilemma plagues plenty of Holmes adaptations, and it's something I fear Steven Moffat will have to overcome in Sherlock Series Three this Autumn. All the same, a third big-screen edition of the series won't go amiss, especially if it keeps up the rather consistent high quality. Sherlock Holmes 3 is set for release in 2015.
