Jim Henson's iconic puppets are back next Spring- the first details, right here!Walt Disney Studios have today increased their marketing campaign for the recently-announced sequel to 2011's hit film The Muppets massively, releasing the title, first images and plot synopsis for the much anticipated follow-up. It's what fans have been craving ever since the second instalment's existence was revealed a few months back, and the reveals don't disappoint!
Titled The Muppets...Again!, the latest film in the hit franchise will take place after the events of the 2011 surprise winner (5/5), once again featuring Chris Cooper as the new addition Walter. Here's the first narrative synopsis for the sequel as it reads right now: "The Muppets...Again! takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theatres in some of Europe's most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine- the World's Number One criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit- and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais, creator of Derek, The Office and Extras. The film stars 30 Rock's Tina Fey and Modern Family's Ty Burrell too."
It sounds as if this time around, the film will be in the vein of the more traditional original Muppets movies, yet with Bret McKenzie back on board for songwriting after his Oscar win with Man Or Muppet and James Bobin back on directing duties, I'm sure we can expect cinematic gold once again. The first images of Gervais and the company of Muppets in a London Underground station can be seen below.
