The journey begins again on DVD and Blu-Ray this Spring!
Warner Brothers Studios have this week confirmed (via a leaked Amazon France listing) the release date for the standard edition of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on DVD and Blu-Ray. Set sixty years before the events of his The Lord Of The Rings film trilogy, Peter Jackson's first prequel adventure focused on the recruitment of Bilbo Baggins to help recover the treasure of a company of dwarves, only for the merry band to encounter Wargs, Orcs, the Goblin King and the mysterious Gollum on their initial travels through Middle-Earth. The movie earned a well-warranted 5* rating here at On-Screen, so you'd definitely be recommended by me to check it out at retail if you missed it first time around. If you did see it, though, and want even more Hobbit goodness before The Desolation Of Smaug, then you may want to wait just a little longer, as an Extended Edition of the film packed with bonus features is due before the next film's release! The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey comes to DVD and Blu-Ray retailers everywhere on April 17th.
