We've had a host of big official news reveals on the upcoming superhero film X-Men: Days Of Future Past these past few weeks, and director Bryan Singer has continued that trend today with even more exciting announcements. From castings to storyline details, the man behind the camera has a lot to say of his continuity-melding big project. Read on for the full guide to Singer's words...
- MORE X-RETURNS- First up, director Singer has confirmed via Twitter three previous stars of the main X-Men trilogy who'll return to franchise after over a half decade performing elsewhere. They are as follows: True Blood's Anna Paquin reprising her role as Rogue, Juno and Inception's Ellen Page as Kitty Pride and Smallville's own Jimmy Olsen Shawn Ashmore as Iceman. These three previously teen stars were big hits with fans in the original trilogy, so their returns onto the X-Men scene for this time-travelling follow-up to First Class alongside the already confirmed cast members of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and plenty of the franchise's stars should certainly be welcome!
- SINGER ON ADAPTING THE DOFP COMIC- "It has a lot of aspects- the actual comic of Days Of Future Past had a whole ton of stuff going on, so it's like any of these things; you have to ddistill it. But I think the fans will be pleased that some of the most exciting parts of the comic are going to be connected to this movie."
- SINGER ON FRANCHISE CONTINUITY- "I'm taking into account every movie- I'm not just grabbing [X-Men and X2: United] and First Class and smashing them together. I'm taking into account the entire universe as it's been laid out so far on the screen, and really respecting it and trying to work with that. People took things in various directions, so there's some clean-up. But ultimately I'm not just ignoring them either..."
This exciting project is beginning to look more and more like the Avengers ensemble for the X-Men franchise, which is something that's already establishing the movie as one of my Most Anticipated for 2014 by a long way! X-Men: Days Of Future Past travels into cinemas everywhere on July 18th, 2014, but of course don't forget that the story continues first with The Wolverine this July 26th.
