DreamWorks Pictures have this week released the teaser trailer for their upcoming animated comedy film The Penguins of Madagascar. Taking place after the events of the acclaimed children's TV series of the same name and the first three motion picture instalments in the shockingly popular Madagascar franchise, this spin-off feature predictably places its focus upon the quartet of charming penguins who together served as one of the series' regular highlights.
Will Tom McGrath, Chris Miller, John DiMaggio and Christopher Knights bring the same level of unparalleled enthusiasm and vigour to what was originally intended to be a direct-to-DVD flick, however? If nothing else, the teaser (below) gives no significant indication of a lapse in quality having occurred since the release of the mediocre Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, yet quite how much of a compliment that is in terms of Penguins' potential quality we're not certain as of yet. Joining the supporting cast in this instance are Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch, R.E.D. 2's John Malkovich and The Hangover's Ken Jeong, each of whom have without question demonstrated their comedic talents enough in various capacities to warrant their vocal contribution here. Make no mistake, this one is unlikely to match The LEGO Movie or How To Train Your Dragon 2 for ambition or depth in its narrative, yet that shouldn't necessarily prevent it from scoring considerably highly at the box office come the annual festive season.
The Penguins of Madagascar infiltrates cinemas worldwide this November 26th.
