For the most part, April is a lot busier than the months before it, although you are going to have to wait until midway through for things to pick up. When they do, however, things get very interesting, so let's look at the top entertainment releases (yes, TV programmes are a release) this month:
5. HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART ONE- Not technically something new, but a welcome return nonetheless as one of 2010's best films disapparates onto DVD with deleted scenes and commentary from the stars- though if I must make one comment, it's that where are DVDs going right now? Too many people still use this format for Blu-Ray to have all the fun.
4. BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT- Time for laughs galore when we enter the BGT audition room on April 16th, especially with Michael McIntyre as a judge. Guaranteed to be fun, if perhaps getting a bit stale now...?
3. THOR- Another stone gets placed in the Avengers pavement (bad metaphor, but you get the gist) with the help of an hammer-wielding God. This should be interesting, even if it feels too unrealistic for Marvel.
2. PORTAL 2- Readers of this blog know me too well to ask why I haven't put this top of the list (you know what's coming next), but were it not for what's in top spot arriving this month, Portal 2 would undoubtedly be my most anticipated release. Expect this deep physics puzzler to be a Game of the Year contender!
1. DOCTOR WHO- As I said, you just knew this would be at the top for me. All the trailers for Series Six are pointing to everyone who ever called the Matt Smith era worse than its predecessors having to eat their words come April 23rd. Here's hoping this year we finally start to discover who River Song really is...
