Spider-Man: Edge Of Time Details Arrive
WonderCon is a great convention for comic book publishers to show off what's coming up over the next year, and the 2011 event has been no different, with Thor, Green Lantern and Cowboys & Aliens being just some of the comic/film adaptations showed off over the course of a weekend. We were also promised the first reveal of a new Spidey game at WonderCon, and although Edge Of Time was announced two days early by Activision, we at least have some brand new details on the new outing by developer Beenox. The audience at the panel by Activision saw a teaser trailer for the video game that featured both the Amazing and 2099 versions of Spider-Man, the former saying "We must defy time itself together" while noting that Peter Parker (the Amazing version) is already dead. The video ended with a shot of Amazing Spidey lying dead in 2099's arms, so things look to be getting much darker this Autumn (and boy, they will need to if Beenox hope to stand up against Batman: Arkham City and survive) for the web-slingers. An evil scientist from the year 2099 apparently travels back in time to kill Peter prematurely, and while there was no confirmation odds are this scientist is a famous adversary from the modern comic. Thankfully, the game won't just shovel out enemy after enemy from the Marvel rogues gallery like the developer did in Shattered Dimensions, using new foes both in the past and future to bring unique setpieces into the mix! Our first glimpse at Spider-Man: Edge Of Time will come in both screenshot and trailer form on Monday.
