Trailers That Were Better Than The Film (1)

Sometimes, we get our hopes up just a little too high for an alledgely blockbuster motion picture, and as a result inevitably suffer the backlash when we shell out a fiver at our local cinema (sometimes more if it's in 3-D) only to discover a viewing experience far removed from the great one we initially expected. Here are a few examples of where that happened for me last year, and in the next couple of days I'll go further back into the history of film...
THE WOLFMAN- We were promised an intense horror with dark twists aplenty, but instead we saw a predictable (though visceral) action-adventure thriller that left little to ponder on other than why we charged for it
ALICE IN WONDERLAND- A tip to filmmakers: if you're going to include themes of social eticate and moral integrity in a fantasy film aimed at kids, either drop the idea altogether or have the decency to warn them in the trailer so that neither they nor adults have to be bored silly or shell out extra for three dimensions of dullness.

SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD- The crown jewel in the fairly slim showcase of 2010 films that went horribly off course, we were told for months we'd get an awesome mixture of comic books, action, romance and comedy, whereas on closer expectation we got nothing of the sort in any of those areas, instead a lighter wallet.
