Glee: Silly Love Songs Review (5/5)
This season of Glee is proving far more consistent than its predecessor, and whatever my annoyance with the love square (yes, you read right) of Rachel, Finn, Quinn and Sam, Silly Love Songs was another great example of why the comedy/drama shouldn't be taken for granted anytime soon. Fairly predictably, the episode's focus was placed on Valentine's Day, which actually worked to its advantage despite the 'holiday' not being one of my most highly regarded- we had developments in that metaphorical square of romance I mentioned, while Kurt finally confessed his feelings to Blaine after the Warblers' attempt to get the latter a boyfriend when horribly awry. Even Puck and Lauren got some time to shine in the love department this week as the gangster lad attempted to win over the girl he is strangely attracted to using Queen's Fat Bottomed Girls. For once, the occasional lack of music didn't do the episode any harm, paving way for great jokes and/or interesting conversations between club members. Admittedly Tina's My Funny Valentine was probably taking things a bit too far, but other than that in my opinion Silly Love Songs is up there with the Auditions and Rocky Horrors of this series- a very good thing!
