WORLD EXCLUSIVE: Portal 2 Final Impressions

With only a week left until its release, I managed to get another hands-on with Portal 2 at the Gadget Show Live yesterday. Admittedly, it was the same demo of three levels I'd seen before, but now the graphics are looking a whole lot better and absolutely no lag or glitches were present this time around. Once again, the lack of a tutorial was quite refreshing (although I'm sure one will pop up early on in the single-player game) as it allowed me to get straight into some taxing puzzles, and there's easily room for replay value because even what looks to be about a quarter of the way through the game there are dozens of ways of completing the challenging, some more inventive and ultimately impressive than others. All that's left to see now is how the story factors into Portal 2 (there wasn't much in the way of plot here as these were just beta levels) and if it can keep up the pace and challenge. Judging by the original, though, and all I've seen in gameplay videos and here, next week is going to bring one of 2011's best games- what an awesome Easter present!
