The British Board of Film Classification has today leaked the existence of an upcoming, unannounced Doctor Who DVD release. Titled Doctor Who: 50th Anniversary Collector's Edition, the multi-disc set looks to compile the various programmes that were broadcast to celebrate the BBC's beloved science-fiction drama's fiftieth birthday last year, including the spectacular feature-length special The Day of the Doctor which aired on the big day itself, November 23rd, 2013.
Bear in mind that these details are subject to change, but here's a round-up of what we know will be included in the set so far, based on previous and current BBFC listings of extra material:
- Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor (75 minutes)
- Doctor Who: The Night of the Doctor (8 minutes)
- Doctor Who: The Last Day (2 minutes)
- The Day of the Doctor Cinema Introductory Scene 1- Sontaran Etiquette (3 minutes)
- The Day of the Doctor Cinema Introductory Scene 2- Three Dimensions, Three Doctors (4 minutes)
- The Science of Doctor Who (60 minutes)
- Doctor Who: The Ultimate Guide (120 minutes)
If Peter Davison's brilliant official 50th Anniversary spin-off programme The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot isn't included too, we'll eat our multi-coloured scarves, our stetsons and a handful of jelly babies before spearheading a mass riot against BBC Worldwide. Stay tuned for more details on the DVD and its VAM (Value Added Material) in the days ahead, or at least in March's Doctor Who Magazine, where the set is sure to be officially confirmed!
Doctor Who returns to BBC One for an eighth season of interstellar voyages in August.
