The force is strong with Netflix, who've got the rights to the 'Lost Missions' of Lucasfilm's hit animated series...
Walt Disney Pictures have today announced the commissioning of a sixth and final season of Lucasfilm's science-fiction animation Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Titled The Lost Missions, the previously axed run will conclude the show's overarching bridge narrative that spanned the years between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
What's more, each of Season Six's thirteen episodes will première exclusively on Netflix next month, along with the feature film which served as the programme's opening instalment and all five of the previous seasons. Coming off the back of Marvel's confirmation (through Disney) that Netflix would hold the rights to drama series based on their Iron Fist, Daredevil and Luke Cage characters, this turn of events cements Disney's relationship with the acclaimed video-on-demand website, and should offer the service a fair number of new subscribers in the weeks ahead. Although it started off on slightly tenuous ground, The Clone Wars gathered momentum over the course of its five seasons, to the extent that it thoroughly deserves this final chance to shine and, more importantly, your perusal of the grand array of adventures which came before it.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars will début its sixth season via Netflix on March 7th- catch the first trailer for The Lost Missions below.
